Lye has been described as a 'ghetto' where large groups gather and shoppers are 'afraid to visit'. Police and council bosses were also forced to introduce new rules banning yobs from weeing and pooing in the town centre.

A mass brawl - reportedly involving around 20 men - recently broke out on a trouble-hit high street. They fled as officers arrived but a woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. However she was later released with no further action.

Three weeks later, a 58-year-old man was rushed to hospital with head injuries after being attacked in High Street. It's believed the victim knew his attacker.

While some believe Lye is made out to be worse than it actually is, others have branded the town "a disgrace". One resident said "When you get home, you feel like you have to wipe your feet after walking up the High Street. It is horrible to see your own kids grow up in it."

To get a better picture of the town, we looked at its crime data. Across Lye there were 55 crimes reported to West Midlands Police in May - the latest data available. That month saw two men taken to hospital following a stabbing in Cross Walks.
